With the rapid progress of mobile communication, the technology of CDMA based on spread spectrum (SS) theory has become the normal suggest of the third mobile communication systems which International Telecommunications Union (ITU) stipulates. Thereby, the steady status of the technology of CDMA in the field of mobile communication is established, which indicates the use in commercial field of the technology of SS communication has come into a new times.The aim of this thesis is to implement a SS communication baseband system based field programmable gate array (FPGA). The implement of which related to the theory of SS communication system, especially the technology of SS signal synchronization de-spread and the implement way of the matched filter. Meanwhile, it also introducesthe design platform-ISE and the VERILOG HDL-a sort of hardware designdescribe language. In the course of design, ISE 6.1 of XILINX and SYNPLIFY of SYNPLICITY CO. are applied as Place&Route tool and synthesizing tool. The thesis designs the structure of the digital DSSS baseband system, and implements this system on ISE. The emphasis is to finish the design of de-spread, acquisition of SS signal and synchronization circuit. A large scale FPGA chip integrated many special chips together, which makes the whole system integrated and compact. Meanwhile, the thesis has a functional simulation and timing simulation on both each module and whole system. MODELSIM of MODEL TECH CO. is applied as the simulation tool of the design, VERILOG HDL is used to program the logic circuit and simulate its function And the XC2S100-6PQ208 device of XILINX realizes the logic circuit.
