The meaning of "cartoon" has already become much more widely with the development of IT, but its main meaning is still on the part of picture and figure. The cartoon symbol of network in this thesis are mainly on these parts, so the cartoon symbols in this thesis belong to a kind of picture or figure turn. From the current applications in the network, the cartoon symbols are mainly used in the IM systems, Network Games, the Communities, etc. Comparatively speaking, the living margin of the game and human's daily life is larger, and the communities are too complicated, but thefunction of the cartoon symbols within IM system are clearer, simpler, and they have more outstanding typicalness for studying. Today, Tencent QQ occupies the absolute governance position in the Chinese IM market, and it is more representative. So this thesis mainly use Tencent QQ as a instance in its analysis of anoncrete cases.In the last part of this thesis, the new thing in the lately network are analysed to forecast the development of the cartoon symbols in the network of future.Especially in the end, the thesis aims at a new thing-----the news' 3 D figures ofthe paper medium. By combining the information technique and the concrete circumstance that it developed, from the angle of the journalism, the thesis makes a brave scientific hypothesis of the future's application of the instant cartoon symbols in the network.
