With the development and evolution of the Internet, people communicate with others has become more and more convenient. Especially in recent years, the rapid development of Instant Messenger, which makes it an essential part in people’s life, work and study? Although instant messenger has make people’s life more convenient, it also bring new challenges on information security and Information purification. Because the cost of communication though instant messenger is very low and the mode is hidden, many criminals use it to leak confidential material and spread vicious information. Therefore, it’s an urgent problem for network management to monitor instant messenger in a safety manage way. However, the traditional IM monitor software is only aimed at a specific instant messenger or has a low processing speed.In order to improve the performance of the traditional IM monitor software, a safety management system for instant messenger-IMSMS was designed and realized. The key techniques of IMSMS is session association and accelerate matching of regular expression. By capturing and analyzing huge number of text message packets, we analysis the communication mechanism of mainstream instant messenger software, including logging in authentication, connection request, text transport and other transmitting procedure, summarized of the various instant messengers’transmission protocol of texts. Through session association, IMSMS solved the problem that to intercept the sender and the receiver of the message effectively. IMSMS not only extract the text message of the mainstream instant messengers (such as MSN, Fetion, Yahoo! Messenger, etc.) for multiple versions, but also extract the text message between two different kinds of software:MSN and Yahoo! Messenger. The system can filter out messages that contain sensitive words by setting the sensitive words. At the same time, in order to guarantees the efficient property of the system; we innovatively proposed the method that transformed the regular expression into DFA, accelerating speed of the matching and locating the sensitive words.The experimental results show it can dramatically speed up this process of the matching and locating the sensitive words. When the IM text message packets though the gateway is less than1000per second, IMSMS only have a rate of missing packet less than0.21%. The result indicates that IMSMS can manage the network security requirements of small scale Intranet effectively.
