With the uninterrupted growth of information technology in the field of enterprise, more and more enterprises begin to use data warehouse technology to analyze data in order to make effective use of the vast amount of data produced in the process of the running of the enterprise. The development and the design of data warehouse have many unique features. It differs from the development and the design of OLTP system in many respects. So it is essential to design a high efficiency data warehouse which is suitable to the enterprise according to these features.This paper aims to design the data warehouse system according to the popular data warehouse technology and its development patterns combined with the architecrure and analytical themes of the social insurance information system. Social insurance data warehouse system adopts three levels of structure, DB-ODS-DW. It analyses and studies the theory of ODS. It also achieves the goal of lightening the burden of business system and providing a unified data environment through the use of ODS. According to the business model and data warehouse technology, this paper will construct preliminarily analytical data warehouse of social insurance, with the data warehouse technology of Oracle9i. It will fulfill the design and analysis of the major themes: endowment insurance, medical treatment insurance, unemployment insurance, etc. The field covers the conventional business of social insurance and the need of national online of endowment insurance. It aims to accomplish the analytical prototype of the conventional business of social insurance, to meet users' need to macroscopic analysis, to support users' laying down and regulating the policy and to supply a fundamental environment for the application of BI in social insurance. Because there are many difference among the users' analytical requirement to the present social insurance and the construction of BI is a process of gradual development and improvement, it is impossible for the function to cover the whole. But it considers fully the majority.The finished system will provide the users high level management such as macroscopic analysis, data analysis and auxiliary decision and separately handle the analytical data out of business system to improve the function of business system.
