The electronic commerce is a kind of business activity form on Internet by using network techniques. In recent years, it has developed rapidly with the development of Internet. How to make the efficient and credible electronic commerce project by making use of the up-to-date Internet programming techniques has become a hot point issue.Microsoft Corporation has released .NET framework, which is a new computing platform. It provides a lot of programming class libraries and perfect Integration Development Environment (IDE), which can greatly simplify the procedures of developing application programs. Moreover, it is very safe and can be easily transplanted. At the same time, XML (extensible Markup Language) has established itself as the standard for representing data in scientific, business applications and the standard for exchanging data among applications on the Web because of its expansibility and the separation between its contents and forms. It is becoming more and more important in the applications of the electronic commerce. This thesis mainly studies how to build electronic commerce project by using .NET, XML, correlative database and network techniques.The thesis can be devided into four parts. Firstly, it introduces the foundational knowledge of electronic commerce. Secondly, it points out some features and developing techniques of XML. Thirdly, it emphatically shows some programming techniques of ASP.NET. Finally, it makes use of correlative techniques to design an application system of network bookshop, which is a kind of electronic commerce project.B/S structure includes client-side, Web server and database server. It is adopted in the design of the application system because of its advantages such as flexibility, independency and safety.
