A fuel-oriented refinery converts crude oil into various fuel products which are used for transportation and heating. It also provides feedstock for petrochemical plant. Scheduling is an effective approach for process operation and economic improvement and source reduction in refinery processes.Production scheduling is at the middle layer in the CIMS system structure, which is the joint of control and management. On the one hand, it will supply decisions for the enterprise; on the other hand, it will arrange production tasks and supervise the control layer. So the production scheduling is the key of the CIMS.A constrained nonlinear scheduling was carried out using the developed refinery-wide model. In the refinery-wide model, the outputs of models of upstream units are used as the inputs to the models of downstream units. The intermediate streams are characterized in the overall model to provide necessary information for the models of downstream unitsOil production, with great scale and complex techniques, is one of the typical processes in the process industry; mathematical model is the emphasis in the scheduling research. In view of the refinery practice, mathematical programming technique is used to construct the scheduling model, heuristic rules are applied to reduce the constraints and variables number in order to simplify the problem. Because the refinery-scheduling problem is NP hard, it is impossible to find out common algorithm with polynomial complexity. We combine the Genetic Arithmetic technique and production scheduling in the support of Aspen Tech's process simulation software to get a satisfied solution in short time, to ensure the scheduling model can be used in the practice and made support for the decision of oil production and sale, is the main...
