The application of the image process technology in quality detection has become the most important part of industrial automation because of the computer technology development. Based on the existing literature, some work has been done in this paper on image process about image acquisition, image pre-processing, and image segmentation and character recognition. A new operator is proposed in according to class image segmentation operator. This thesis is a part of the research project named automatic check system of glass based on image processing and identifying which sponsored by a glass Company Ltd. It is aimed to improve inspection efficiency by application of image process technology. The dissertation is organized as follows: Some basic conceptions are introduced about digital image process including its grow, character, application and development direction. Detection theory, research plan and experiment design are proposed for this project. In according to the process, we discuss image acquisition system including hardware and principle of digital image. In image pre-process, some basic technology about filter and enhancement are analyzed. In contrast to class edge detection for image segmentation, a new operator using fractional calculus is proposed. Some characteristic parameters are detected after image segmentation finally. Classify glass defect by computing rotundity degree and slightness degree as characteristic vector. Detailed data will be proposed for next glass optimal incised system. The technology and experimentation will set a stability foundation for further research and application.
