Modern logistics is taken as an advance organizational way and management technology, and its role in national economy and social development is more and more outstanding. The development of modern logistics in China, will be significant to optimizing resource configuration, improving the quality of the economic operations and promoting the reforms and development of enterprises. The scientific policy of production-inventory is one of the keys for logistics management.There are many uncertain factors with stochastic properties and complicated relationships in the production-inventory system, so it is hard to model and analyze the production-inventory system using analytic methods. By researching systematic model for the real or tentative system, an effective tool of analyzing such a kind of complex discrete-continuous system as the production—inventory system is offered by the system simulation technology. With the computer simulation technology, the production-inventory system could be analyzed and optimized, such as adjusting the productivity, arrangement of inventory system, analyzing costs and policies of inventory, and so on. Special system simulation software of production — inventory system will be an efficient tool for enterprises to improve the management of production—inventory system. The main jobs done in this paper are as follows:1 .The production-inventory system with random demands and multistage adjustable productivity, customers with different prior levels is analyzed. In this paper, two delivery ways are considered: deliver immediately and batch delivery. And the total cost of the production-inventory system and lead-time are considered under these two delivery ways as well. Based on the discrete system simulation principle and the Event-Scheduling approach, the production-inventory systems under these two delivery ways are modeled.2. Based on the Object Oriented simulation principle, the simulation algorithms of the production-inventory system under two delivery ways are proposed. This algorithm resolves problems of priority handling in complicated production-inventory system, and the calculation of the cost of the system and the lead-time.3.Taking of inventory boundary in which the productivity change suddenly as decision variable,and taking production-inventory total cost advancing with lead-time after weighted as the goal, the production-inventory policy has been optimized with the method of simplex mode acceleration.4.Using VC6.0 as the developing tool, the above algorithms of the simulation and optimization have been realized, and the software of simulation and optimization of production-inventory system is developed. Choosing the proper cases, the simulation results of the production-inventory system under two delivery ways are analyzed and compared with each other, and the simulation results of different policies and optimization results are analyzed.
