In modern electric power industry, higher demands for transportation and detection of electric network are put forward. Traditional method using current sensors can't meet the demand for high voltage and big current detecting. This technique field confronts with serious challenge. Fiber current sensor is given extensive recognition due to its serious of advantages as good electric insulation, anti-jamming, high precision, tightly structure and safe. The sensors based on the fiber grating represent the development direction of these sort of fiber sensors.As a basic fiber optical device, fiber grating has many excellent and special capabilities, and it has been widely used in fiber optical communication systems and fiber optical sensing systems. With its development, more and more experts tend to consider that it can't imagine if there hasn't the existence of fiber grating in the future fiber optical systems. As one kind of the fiber gratings, fiber bragg grating (FBG) is one of the most rapidly developed passive devices in resent years. FBG is fabricated directly in the core of the fiber .The grating is small in length, and it has a determined center wavelength. FBG is widely used in fiber optical sensing systems.Fabrication of fiber bragg grating and current sensing is explored and studied in this dissertation. The main contents are as following:1.Introduced the formation mechanism of FBG and its fundamental properties. FBG fabrication technology as how to write-in and its application for current sensing are researched deeply.2.Compared fiber grating fabrication techniques scheme, holographic technique to fabricate grating into fiber is choose. Experiment system used to fabricate fiber grating is established.3. By using the experiment system, fabricated fiber bragg grating, and the experiment results have been analyzed.4. Propose a current sensing method based on FBG and electromagnet and designed relevant mechanism and circuits. measured range has been optimized and the measure data have been given.
