Study And Design Of Linux-Based Scalable Cluster Server

The cluster server is a set of autonomous servers connected by high performance networks, which can work co-operatively to process the more and more request on Internet which increment explosively day by day. Cluster server has many features, such as high performance, high availability, scalability and excellent performance-price ratio etc. It is becoming a hot point of modern server technology research.Cluster server is a new technology, there are many questions need resolving. Its key technologies include architecture research and job scheduling, load balancing algorithm, high availability and fault tolerance, performance analyzing, monitoring and management, global file system. The former two technologies are the research emphasis of this thesis.The author has done the following works: analyze the present and future network service requirements and its trend; include and analyze the present cluster server's architectures and its inherent features; design two architectures, one is applied in LAN environment, and anther one is applied in WAN environment; implement a web cache cluster server system in LAN environment; analyze the present load-balancing algorithms and design a new dynamic load-balancing algorithm; expect what will be done in future on cluster server technology.
