With the development of virtual reality technique and device, virtual reality is widely applied not only in fields of design and science research but also in projects of science & technology exhibition. Virtual reality technique can make it more immersible, interactive and interesting comparing with traditional science & technology exhibitions, so the need of VR exhibitions is increasing, but the development is difficulty and time-consuming. In order to solve the contradiction, this dissertation researches features of science & technology exhibitions and methods of increasing the efficiency of development. This dissertation puts forward and realizes the virtual reality platform specialized for science & technology exhibitions. Algorithms of virtual reality and improvement of model simplification are also discussed in this dissertation.The main contents of this dissertation include the following three parts:1. This dissertation introduces AndShow_VRToolKit, a virtual platform based on general virtual reality SDKs for creation and execution of virtual reality applications, especially for science & technology exhibitions.2. This dissertation investigates algorithms in virtual reality including hidden surface removal, level of detail, particle system, etc. Octree is used in improving the algorithm of model simplification.3. Developing some virtual reality exhibitions such as "flight simulation" and "navigation simulation" for NanJing science & technology museum based on AndShowVRToolKit thus validate the function of system.
