Study On The Application Of Heterogeneous Database's Integration Technologies In The Development Of Information Repository On Ports And Sea-routes

As the further development of national information construction, every enterprise or company applied a lot of management information systems step by step. But for the reason of applications which were developed and applied stepwise, for some technical reason, and for the shortcoming of money and influence of different man' s action, the enterprise or company configured different database systems and the database systems were run on heterogeneous database platforms. The heterogeneity of database platforms directly led to the isolation of applications, made the information difficult to share and made the applications come into many information islands. Information islands can cause the following troubles such as data redundancy, repeated data input, data' s nonconformity and isolated information. So heterogeneous database' s integration have been being the problem which should be solved quickly when the enterprise or company further progress on information construction.The main content of e-government construction is Three Networks and a Resource Repository. Three Networks include Intranet, Extranet, Internet and e-governance information resource repository. In many years, the government of different levels have gradually applied a lot of management information system based on different kinds of heterogeneous database platform and accumulated much relevant data. But for some historical reasons, all these MIS were isolated too. Naturally, it is the inevitable demand to integrate the heterogeneous database for the construction of e-governance.According to the actual need of legacy system' s heterogeneous database' s integration in the real scientific research project, the paper mainly discuss and research the integration of four different heterogeneous database including Microsoft SQL Server 7. 0, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft FoxPro 2. 5 and Sybase SQL Anywhere 6. The maincontent studied includes the relevant technologies of integration for heterogeneous database, the architecture' s design for integration of heterogeneous databases, the design of global database schema according the data' s internal relation, the realization of heterogeneous database' s integration. The main research is as the following.1. Have researched and discussed the critical technologies and problems on heterogeneous database' s integration.2. Synthetically using relevant heterogeneous database' s integration technologies, according to the practical need for heterogeneous database' s integration, present feasible and reasonable architecture for heterogeneous database' s integration and present the detailed steps to bring it into effect.3. Have designed the global schema of heterogeneous databases based on the above heterogeneous database' s integration architecture and realized the data' s integration of watercrafts in Hubei province.4.
