Integrate Heterogeneous Data Sources, Xml-based Research And Application

In process of enterprise informationization. Because of all kinds of historical term ,Different departments or subcompanies may have chose different software and hardware environments depend on its'demand or special area's applications, So that there are many different kinds of hardware environments, operating systems, database management systems and network protocols in the same enterprise. It results in "information island" and Data Heterogeneity in different department of enterprise.The solution to "information island" and Data-source Heterogeneity is that we must integrate widespread data source into a standard platform, However it need a standard data model that provide a standard view to user. The appearance of XML bring hope to Data-source Heterogeneity, because of the character belonged to XML which includes self-description, flexility, the powerful ability of data description , better interaction and easy for expansion and so on, so that XML can easily interact with other data models without any defect as standard data model.Combined with data integration technology, this article advanced a standard integration of Data-source Heterogeneity that called virtual database model based on XML, The model can solve series of problems in data-source Heterogeneity perfectly.
