With the rapid development of informatization construction of the campus, the campus network has offered better resource-sharing, information exchange and coordinated work for teaching, scientific research and management of university. However, the campus network information system faces a series of problems, such as isolated information island, information transmission slowly, much repeatedly work, lowly working efficiency, and so on. Consequently, it's particularly important to accelerate the construction of digital campus, integrate various kinds of data, applications and business flows in campus, and make them have interaction and expansibility.As the standard of data expressing and exchange, XML has solved the problems of inconsistent data format and communication between heterogeneous systems. Accordingly, XML has made the data exchange among different computer application systems very easy. It can be well solved of existing isolated information island by adopting XML as the standard information expresses format, and integrating many kinds of systems and data, information sources with XML and Web service technology in the construction of digital campus. Thus to realize the high data sharing, strengthen information circulation among every department of the school, and improve the teaching and working efficiency of university greatly.This paper discusses the technologies and solutions of data exchange, information processing and publishing among heterogeneous platforms/systems, which based on the construction of digital campus of WuHan university of technology, and the XML-based application of heterogeneous data source integration, data multi-displaying, etc.Firstly, it begins with introducing XML, presents technological characteristics of XML in data exchange, information publishing, and the main relevant technologies of XML. Secondly, the paper analyses the business flow and function framework of postgraduate enrollment subsystem. And then the author puts forward the overall framework basedon XML, briefly introduces the concrete application in digital campus about XML technology. In the realization of system, the paper introduces the design of postgraduate enrollment subsystem of WHUT. And it makes a design of the general framework and principle that XML-based data exchange and information publishing technology, carries on the development of partial postgraduate enrollment subsystem module, and makes the detailed introduction of concrete technical realization.The author aims at presenting an overall technical construction and realizing technologies of XML-based information publishing and exchange in digital campus.
