At present, many questions such as low-level software reuse, long period and much repeated work exist in the process of development Measurement and Control System (MACS) software. The paper raises two ways based on Virtual Instrument and Component Technology to settle the problems.Firstly, the theories, characters and architecture of Vitual Instrument (VI) are introduced. As Lab VIEW is the most popular graphical language to program VI, some details about Lab VIEW are clarified. The medium for application of VI technology is the Measurement and Control System for Mechanics Machine (MACSMM), so mechanical and software structure and requirements of the system is also introduced.The system had been realized in VC++ in the past by the author of the paper, the key technologies and questions existed in the system is analysed for later contratst.The article gived a detailed plan that is based on Virtual Instrument according to the requirements and charcters of one universal MACS.These measures include: program structure, serial communications, PID Control, database, network, data anaylse, digital signal processing(DSP), multi-thread mechanism, data acquisition (DAQ), user interface(UI), report generation and so on.A measure is not just introduced simply, the other sides related it from application background, tools use, programming to keypoints and common principles are also analysed. The most of measures are tested through the MACSMM. And in some measures, the realization contrasts between with VC and with Lab VIEW are took, the results show that it takes less time and lower difficulty with Lab VIEW at the same target.The component technology is another way to settle the problems.The article begined with theories of component and backgrounds of ActiveX Control, and then discussed the principles and ways to define component of the MACS.A timer control is developed with MFC in VC++, the procedure can be reffered when developing other components of the MACS. The timer control also be used in Lab VIEW, theproperties, methods and events of the control are demonstrated.At last, a way of developing VI with component technology is introduced. This aims to develop our VI products, and then settle the problems menthioned before indirectly.
