The architecture for current image processing is base on PC workstation currently, which has lots of failty in realfield, including the building cost, the power consuming, the steadablity. On another hand, the embed which based on DM270 providered by TI bring us another solutioning. This article bring us an embedded image processing system named IPP. On the first part, the articles discribes the hardware feature of DM270, analyze the virtule of this platform vs. the ones based PC. Then, this articles discribes the image input module in IPP, which is the front part of image process. And the DSP features is introduced later, which is the HW for lots of mathmatic operations. The DSP in dm270 is armed with a iMX coprocessor to speed up the matirx and array operation. In the third part of this article, a IPL software architure is designed. The SW arch covers the design in DSP, the SW of on ARM and the communication of image input, image process, and the image controller modules. An demo project which developed on PC104 last year is implemented on IPP in the last part. This demo shows the IPL has lots of new advanced features and the high performance in image process platform.
