Transport Of MPEG-4 Video Based On OpenH323

With the rapid devolopment of internet technology and the unceasing progress in network technology,multimedia communication has been widely applied to areas such as network teaching, video conference, long-distance medical treatment and so on.H.323 is a well-developed IP based video conference protocol, MPEG-4 is a video compression standard with outstanding performance, OpenH323 is an open-source H.323 communication system developed by the Equivalence Pty Ltd of Australia which establishes a good foundation for applications based on H.323. It is very important to study transport of MPEG-4 video in OpenH323 systems.In this paper, the transmission features of the H.323 protocol, especially its calling process, is first studied. structure of the OpenH323 system is analyzed. Based on an analysis of the MPEG-4 visual standard, the transmission of MPEG-4 visual content over OpenH323 is studied, and a complete transmission scheme and its realization are presented. The performance of the proposed scheme is compared with conventional methods using H.261/263, and the results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
