Image Format Analysis And Application In MODIS System

Image processing is a technology that processes image information to meet vision or application needs.It is very complicated, involving many branches of knowledge, such as mathematics,graphics,computer technology and etc. Image processing technology is widely used in many fields, such as image communication,geographical information system,project computational analysis and etc.With the rapid development of computer technology,image softwares of different fields have more and more function. But sometimes the present softwares cannot achieve users' aims.So the softwares need some technical improvement and breakthrough. To optimize such softwares we must know well different formats.In the paper formats are classed into two groups which are static image formats and dynamic image formats. And characteristics of these formats with different areas are introduced.Three formats BMP,JPG,GIF and their codings are discussed in details. Converting between BMP and GIF is realized.Another emphasis is put on a special format HDF, which is specialized for MODIS data. HDF is analyzed clearly. Information is extrated from MODIS data. Longitude or latitude values are queried. Images monitoerd by MODIS system are displayed and processed. All of these will be a great help for the application of MODIS data.
