Research And Implementation Of The Monitoring System On WEB Application

Along with the construction of information system in Tsinghua University, more and more WEB application systems have been built. These systems are combination of different WEB server, application server and database server. These servers are running on different operating systems. It is a heavy burden for the system administrator to monitor the WEB application and handle the trouble. In fact the final user, not by the system administrator, discovers most errors. The situation put the system administrator in a passive position.Based on the current management situation of WEB application system, we research, design and implement the Monitoring System on WEB Application (MSWA). The MSWA collects the running status of the WEB application from the exterior of the WEB application, analyses the error occurred and inform the system administrator.The using of MSWA ensure that the WEB application is in stable status.This article describes the research, design and implement under UNIX platform. Under UNIX platform, we implement the collection system of server's running information to get the running status of the servers; we implement the monitoring of all part of WEB application system; we research using data driven method to analyse WEB application error.Based on these research and design, this paper give some advice on further research work in the MSWA, and give the prospective view of the MSWA.
