The multimedia conference is a developing application of telecommunication. As a concrete application, vidcoconTerence gets generally attentions. This article comes up with the videoconfcrcncc system based on H.323, and researches and analyses some involved key technologies.First, this article brings forward (he objective of research on the multi-point desktop videoconfcrcnce, and the background of it, introduces the development anil applications of multimedia communications. Then, the article introduces the standard of videoconfcrcnce based on IP network: H.323 standard and SIP. The article also analyzed their advantages and disadvantages.This article researches and analyses some key technologies used to apply multi-point videoconfcrcnce systems, including the analyses of IP multicast and multicast routing protocol, RTP and RTCP, etc.The article also describes the implementation of videoconfcrcnce based on H.323 standard, including design of the system transport layer and network layer, synchronization of video and voice. Furthermore, the article researches quality of service (QoS).At last, the article gives an expectation for the research and application of desktop videoconfcrcnce.
