A Study And Design For Middleware Of Mobile Terminal Based On Java

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, mobile service are evolving from basic function, as calling and SMS, into abundant and complicated function, as mobile browsing, gaming, mobile commerce, video, LCS and so on. Mobile operator should have the Middleware of mobile terminal which could provide a generic platform for the mobile application.This porject is 3G terminal research of China Telcom, developped by STTRI. Middleware of mobile terminal is different from traditional middleware. It's an adapter layer over the hardware or operating system and below the application layer of terminal. This layer shield the difference between kinds of hardware and operating system platform, and provide standard interface to application layer.This thesis analyses the architecture, hardware and software technology of 3GPP terminal, summarizes the actuality and problem of mobile service development. According to the requirement of services, the author designs the object of mobile terminal Middleware and the system architecture, technical solution. The emphasis of this thesis is the defination of the function sets according mobile services. The middleware is constitutive of paltform layer and functional layer, and the former define the basic APIs of low level, and the latter define the basic functional sets as SMS, MMS, WAP, multimedia and extended functional sets as bluetooth, SIP, LCS, Web Services and so on. User can develop mobile application with these functional sets. At the same time, the paper advances the technique of version evolving, transplanting, security, application manager, application development and testing. At last, the auther gives the realization of mobile terminal Middleware based on Java, and describes the development method with an example.Middleware of mobile terminal is a universal software platform for application development.The technology can simplify the development of client software, and improve the expansibility, importing, reuse and modularization of wireless data applications.
