Along with the development of the Internet technology, the Web is becoming more a services-sharing than an information-sharing platform. An application combining the Web and the service of control system computing and simulation, will not only add the mobility to the service, but also has the potential of solving highly complex computing and simulation problems through constructing networked computing and simulation systems. The main contents of this dissertation are as follows.Several key issues on the implementation of Web-based control system computing and simulation are studied. The conclusions include a proposed framework of the computing and simulation server, the implementation of the user interface, the solution to the abnormity in computing and the respond time.Using MATLAB, a Web-based computing and simulation system for control systems, is realized. The concepts of storing-oriented andexecuting-oriented MATLAB M files are proposed and upon these concepts, the storing and executing of the MATLAB instructions entered through Web pages, is realized respectively. The displaying of the computing results is achieved by first collecting the variables from clients' MATLAB instructions, then dynamically creating the output HTML file and the M file; the constraint imposed by MATLAB Web Server, that a numerical result with imaginary part cannot be properly displayed, is resolved by treating it as a matrix and displaying its imaginary and real parts separately.Using Simulink, a Web-based simulation system for control systems, is realized. A graphic and interactive user interface for modeling is realized with a Java Applet embedded Web page. The node-relationship matrix is proposed and used in the drag and drop operation in the user interface. A protocol for the communication of the model data between the user interface and the Web server is given. When several graphic results are created, the user can choose to plot all the results in a single coordinate plane or in separate coordinate planes.The above computing and simulation systems developed with MATLAB and Simulink are used and tested in designing a DC motor compensator via Root Locus and a PID controller of an Inverted Pendulum system, respectively. The tests not only confirm the applicability of the systems, but also help find some deficiencies of thesystems.
