Computing Paradigm has gone through the Mainframe Computing age and the Desktop Computing age. With the communicating and computing device becoming smaller, people hope to enjoy computing resource and information serviceanywhere and anytime. So the third age-Ubiquitous Computingage, is coming. Ubiquitous computing environments can do three tasks: collecting information processing information, feeding back information. Its core is context-aware computing, and the "five W's" of context(Who, What. Where, When, Why) are a good minimal set of necessary context. Location-aware computing resolves the "Where", which is the focus in ubiquitous research.Indoor location-aware requires high accuracy, which is the chief problem in ubiquitous computing. A good computing module can make location-aware system performance more ascendant, and gain location services with great efficiency and low cost. This paper firstly introduces the location-aware in the way of the background, content , present, research constitutions, and so on. Some kinds of location-aware technologies are discussed. It's pointed out that the different physical medium will use different methods to determine location. Some medium's basic properties are laid out. At last, it is indicated that to choose physical wireless medium must accord with environments.By referring to many mobile locating systems and indoor location-aware systems, a pure azimuth location model is developed. This model uses the method of least square. Then thispure azimuth location model is simulated, and the error is analyzed. The results show that this location model can achieve high precision. In addition, some other factors are analyzed from geometrical aspect. It is proved that these factors will affect the location error, and it follows some definite rules. This work must make for adjusting computing model and improve location performance.In this paper, other models are researched also, such as location-computing module based on time and hybrid location-computing module. By simulating these models and charting each location-computing model's properties, a new hybrid location-computing module is given. In theory, this hybrid location-computing module is more precise than any single model.At last, a general location-aware framework is discussed elaborately. The framework describes the course of indoor location-aware in detail. Then applications of location-aware are summed up, and future work about location-aware computing is pointed out.
