A Research Of Semantic Server For Automatic Resource Discovery On Network

With the rapid development of World Wide Web, web technology has improved people's lives and changed production mode. Yet people cannot find really wanted information resource in the face of an ocean of web information. The keyword-based search engines cannot find the required content for the users because keyword cannot express enough requirements of users. And on the other hand, currently HTML-based web has not the ability of expressing the description semantics of resources. It is more and more difficult for readers to find the information resources in the explosive growthing web according to the requirement of readers.This paper firstly describes the process of machines' finding web resource, analyses the three kinds of required semantics. They are readers' requirement semantics, resource description semantics and domain knowledge semantics. Then a semantics server is put forward to support these three kinds of semantics in order to provide the semantic service for web resources discovery. This paper introduces the concept of ontology and applies the ontology to express the three kinds ofsemantics understandable to machines. Semantic web is the extension of current web, and its target is to make web resource understandable to machines. This paper applies Web Ontology Language (OWL) to describe the three kinds of semantics.The semantic service primitives express the interoperation between the semantic server and clients. And the semantic server provides the applications with readers' requirement semantics, resource description semantics and domain knowledge semantics. This paper designs the service primitives of the three kinds of semantic services. The responsibility of semantic service protocol is to make the clients use semantic services according to the required standard. This paper designs the XML-based semantic service protocol based on the semantic service primitives.After analyzing the requirements of semantic service and designing the semantics service protocol, this paper illustrates the implementation of semantic server in detail. The design of bottom semantic database, the implementation of inner semantics service, and the semantic service with the mode of web service are discussed and explained with key technology detail. This paper compares the advantage of XML database with traditional relation database in the technology of semantic web and designs a semantic server oriented to the automatic discovery of resources based on XML database.Finally this paper validates the feasibility ofsemantic server with a program code database as an application instant of semantic server in computer teaching.
