Web services make Web develop towards a computing platform based on Internet. But present Web services standard UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration), WSDL (Web Services Description Language), SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) are all short of supporting the semantic method. Most existent web service discovery technologies are based on key words matching and cannot give support to the semantic method efficiently.Ontology is a new developing branch of artificial intelligence. It can offer strong support to the semantic web and web services . With the more and more research on ontology technology in recent years, a lot of ontology modeling languages and modeling methods are brought forward. The application of ontology becomes the present research focus too.Web service discovery technology is an important part in web services architecture. Applying ontology to the service discovery can not only realize automatic service discovery, but also improve efficiency in service discovery.In this paper, based on the architecture of DAML-S/UDDI registry, a system structure is designed. In this system, OWL is used to describe the domain ontology in the specific field and OWL-S to describe the service ontology. It introduces the semantic similarity calculation, and mainly discusses how to utilize semantic similarity calculation to match the input/output parameters, and adds some non-function parameters as filter to shorten the response time. The primary works and contributions in this thesis are listed as the follows:Firstly, by reading a large number of relevant documents of domestic and international, including web services, semantic web, Ontology and semantic web service, the present method and technology of the service discovery are introduced in the paper. And their problems are put forward.Secondly, the similarity calculation in the matching of the function parameter isintroduced . It avoids the reasoning process and saves the time of responding. What's more, introduced the non-function parameter matching filter, it improves the searching rate.Thirdly, paper provides rules, methods that the domain ontology constructed, and constructs knowledge base web service discovery.Finally, paper makes use of an instance to realize the method and technology stated above, and has got the next working direction of semantic web service discovery: based on the general ontology knowledge base of the semantic web service discovery.
