This thesis analyzes the present condition of the image processing technique and the image project and the contributed application of them and remote video monitor system. The image processing and recognition means of the oil liquid surface and dial pointer are discussed with emphasis. The remote video monitor and recognition system is based on embedded technology and VC++ and SQL Server 2000 are applied as the developing tools in this system 。Moreover,ActiveX programming technology is used to develop and research in the whole system. Many image processing technology ,such as 24bit-real-color picture to 8bit-gray-scale picture,Threshold,image dilation,image thinning and so on , are applied to carry through image processing. Two new recognition means are used in the oil liquid surface and dial pointer recognition. They are rectangle area recognition method and concentric cirque seeking method, whose trait is easy calculation method, good real time, low recognition error and high dependability. Through a great deal of different conditional experiments, two kinds of method are proved that they are fit to two kinds of recognition objects.
