This thesis presents a scheme of multimedia compression system, which uses the DSP chip TMS320C5410 produced by TI corporation to pack and unpack audio and video data and control camera system. Compressed data can be delivered through network card and other devices, so that can realize the distant communication of multimedia data. In this paper, first, wavelet transform and its application on the image processing are analyzed, and ADV611 chip is introduced. It is a special wavelet transform chip developed by Analog Devices corporation. Furthermore, this thesis discusses audio compression standard ITU — T G.723.1 and chooses CT8021 chip to realize the compression and decompression of audio data. At last, the thesis explicates the scheme of whole system and presents the system hardware frame diagram, main flowchart and DSP break-off flowchart.
