The Wavelet Transform Theory And Its Applied Research, Multimedia Data Compression

How to store and transmit huge multimedia data is the main concern in the computer network and telecommunications. One of the efficient ways is data compression. This paper applies wavelet transform in the multimedia data compression and focuses on the following research work. (1) Analyzes wavelet transform. (2) Proposes the one-dimension Mallat algorithm and analyzes the application of wavelet transform in sound signal. (3) Proposes the still image compression using wavelet transform algorithm. Software has been implemented for the algorithm. (4) Proposes the three-dimension Mallat algorithm used in three-dimension signal compression.
