With the progress of network technology. Web CAD/CAM is the hotspot of developing CAD/CAM in information age, which takes Internet as carrier, and takes Web as manifest form. The design of Distributed Synchronous collaborative Carton CAD/CAM System is core of taking information into manufacturing. The System can make plenty use of resource everywhere. The System can integrate enterprise information system, so as to realize management through information from order to design and manufacture. This paper takes Carton CAD system for example to sum up common method and key technology in design of Web CAD system.The successful design of Web CAD System must consider felicitous integration of Web technology, software engineering, programming language and database technology, and consider how to provide user a simple and convenient method to use. The Java language produced by Sun Micro system, is designed for programming in network, and has many good characteristics, so it has the ability to manipulate the data of Web CAD.The paper has explored Web CAD technology, and studied the key technology of Web Carton CAD based on Java technology, including system framework, the assign of system function, the displaying technology of graphics, 3D visualization, data traffic technology, geometry sculpting, the manage of former, design through parameter, save and operation of file, Distributed Synchronous collaborative, etc. Based on these technologies, we develop the Web Carton CAD Software. In the Software, we have used Java/Java Applet/Iava2D/Java3D/Servlet/RMI/JMF/JDBC technologies.
