| The contacting IC card has many problems: easy to be stained and worn down,inconvenient to use, etc. With RFID technology, the contactless IC card can replacethe contacting IC card, and it is supposed to solve these problems.The contactless IC card system is usually a passive inductive RFID system. How toreconstruct home meter system by using the contactless IC card is the purpose of thisthesis.For passive inductive RFID system, a systematic method to design reader's antennawas proposed. A kind of prepaid intelligent meter system based on RFID technologywas presented. The main content of this thesis is as follows:1. The fundamental theories and the state of the art of RFID were introduced. The history of auto-metering technology was summarized, and the disadvantages of the contacting IC card prepaid intelligent meter system were analyzed.2. The energy and data transmission principles of passive inductive RFID system were introduced, and a formula to calculate the optimum side length of reader's square antenna coil was proposed. Furthermore, a complete scheme to design, make and adjust antennae was given.3. The advantages of the contactless IC card were analyzed. A contactless IC card prepaid system with PDA was proposed, which is convenient for field debugging, maintaining and service. The system design and implementation were discussed in detail.In the end, the conclusions were made and some problems for further research were addressed.
