Research And Application Of Media Gateway Based On SoftSwitch

NGN is services driving network, which uses open network structure, in which service and call control, as well as call and carrying, can be separated. The goal of the separation is to make service quite independent of network and to support service flexibly and effectively. SoftSwitch, as the core technology, is getting more and more points. Meanwhile, international and national manufactories of telecommunication devices and supplies of telecommunication service are keeping a close trace to the development and practicality of SoftSwitch.Media gateway (MG) is an import device in SoftSwitch architecture, which transfers kinds of media stream of user and network into core network. AG this paper discussed is a sort of MG. It is located in access layer what has extensive application in telecommunication, enterprises, cell areas and residential customers. At first, this paper introduces the system structure, sort and function of MG, then put forward integration of PSTN devices is the development of MG that will provide extensive services. It expatiates H.323, and then gives a presentation of AG system structure which including software and hardware. The paper discusses the data structure and interface primitive and processing of protocol adaptation layer. It also discusses call processing of system. The research emphases on key technology, it can realize all kinds of function of the AG. At last, this paper introduced the test structure and method of this system, and given the result.The paper is completed based on more than a year research and practice, during these days I have finished the study of H.323 module, realized the basic function and supplementary service. The AG we design has passed the trial carrying test of MIL When tested, the system fully complies with test specification of AG made by Information Industry of Department of China, such as H.323, AG, etc, and as well the performance of the system reaches the related requirements of Information Industry of Department of China.At present, the telecommunication industry in the world is in highly ardent warfare. Many manufacturers of telecommunication devices and carriers of telecommunication are developing and testing SoftSwitch devices. Under this situation, Wuhan Zhongguang Telecommunications Co. costs large sums and researchers in developing SoftSwitch devices. AG which I has taken part in developing, passed the test organized by Information Industry of Department ofChina, and all kinds of performance reached the requirements. This product has strong competition advantage compared to other products of same type so it will have wide marketing forecast.
