The Research And Implementation Of A B/S Based College Management Information System

The extensive application of new technologies, such as the web database, the object-oriented method and the role-based access control (RBAC) technique, has greatly improved the quality of the management information systems, including the college MIS.This thesis is based on a developing project named the B/S Based College Management Information System, which is sponsored by the staff college of China Academy of Engineering Physics.The thesis discusses the correlative techniques of the browser/server (B/S) pattern, describes the system analysis and design, some problems encountered and solutions, the user interface and the status of system testing. The RBAC technique, including the concept and the application to the authentication of web pages in the system, is illustrated in detail.Aimed at originally client/server (C/S) pattern's limitations, the system adopts a B/S pattern. In this pattern, all programs are executed on the server part, and client part operates only by a browser, which is typically called "thin client port". Besides, the system uses a current solution which combining Tomcat, JSP and SQL Server for developing a web server application in the Microsoft Windows environment, and which providing a valid means for developing a dynamic, intercommunication and effective web management system.Functions realized are as follows:①Function of Educational Administration Management Subsystem. ② Function of Student Management Subsystem. ③Function of user's identification. ④Function of the Role-Based Access Control. The system thus developed hassatisfied basic requirements of practical application and has been operational since.The main technique and characteristics are as follows:① The convenience and simpleness. Based on the B/S pattern , the programming and the program maintenance are carried out only on the server part. The user can operate the function of the system by the WWW only via a browser. Furthermore, the system has a amity and convenience interface, so it is easy to use. ②The real time and share quality. System support unlimited number of users' access; Characteristics usage for users; legal user enjoys appropriate service according to his role, all of which satisfies users of different requirements. ③Variety of searching. This system can realize assemble condition search, blurry search, and separate the search results from pages. ④safety. This system adopts Windows NT Server safety strategy and Tomcat safety strategic, adds user's identification and RBAC developed by myself, and therefore provides a safety guarantee with it. ⑤The database business handle. It ensures dependability and safety of the database.
