With the development of modern science, it becomes more and more necessary to use computer aided technology in the field of population management. The thesis discusses the developing process of Wuhan Pregnant Women Management System, which is divided into analysis, design and testing steps. It also introduces the main technology applied in the System, the difficulties arising from it and the resolution of these problems. Most of all, the thesis puts forward the idea of combining the GIS(Geographic Information System)with the Management System and presents the technical means to achieve the idea.Wuhan Pregnant Women Management System, designed in city, district and street levels, is developed to track the accurate information of the pregnant women and control the gender ratio of new-born babies.This system is based on distributed database technology, developed with OO (Object Oriented) mode, and combined with the GIS technology. This thesis introduces the database and GIS technology, discusses the advantages of combining the GIS and population management system, and studies how to put users' data on the map and how to bind data with layers.In this thesis, the programming and design of Wuhan Pregnant Women Management System are brought forward. Every module of the system is designed and carried out. Various difficulties in the development such as how to find the balance between the speed and the accuracy and how to satisfy the users' personalities are discussed. The detailed process of how to combine the application with MapX is also discussed. The disadvantages and expectations of this system are put forward in the end of the thesis as well.
