With the rapid development in IT as well as the increasing requirements of enterprises on information systems (IS), the construction of distributed IS becomes a major trend. Research and deployment on distributed computing platform and relevant technologies is an important issue. Using the development of a practical distributed application as the background, this thesis discusses the distributed system architecture, the multi-tire approach and its implementation, and proposed several technologies in the development of a distributed system.First of all, the concept and relevant technologies of distributed architecture are studied, with an introduction being given on the appearing and development of distributed IS in enterprise IS. The advantage and appropriate application scope of distributed architecture is discussed, and the 3 presently popular types of distributed computing platform are investigated. Following this, from the study on distributed object, the method of OO (Object-Orientation) is studied for the application in distributed system design.Based on this, COM+/MTS and some relevant key technologies are studied, and their advantages are concluded. Aiming at a practical application of an enterprise, some changes are made on traditional structure and business logic is encapsulated in a 4-tier structure. Then proper platform and precept is made for JinLongQuan Inc.'s Material Management Information System. Two solutions and new ideas mentioned above are used in the development of this IS. Finally a multi-tier system with encapsulated enterprise object and layered structure is implemented.
