Design And Development Of Distributed Educational Management Information System

With the rapid development of information technology and the thought of revitalizing the nation through science and education gradually rooted in the people's conception, the informization tide has already swept across the whole educational domain. Making informization promote educational modernization has already become the only way of salient educational development. In education trade whose principal aim is knowledge innovation and taking personnel training, how to accelerate the process of informization and establish the infrastructure of educational informization is the significant subject of educational development in the 21st century. The informization of educational management is one of the pivotal factors. And the technological foundation of educational management's informization is the educational management information system(EMIS) based on information technology.However, with the prevalence of Internet/Intranet technology, the institutional framework of educational management demonstrates the plural, distributed, network-melting trend. The educational management information system should be adapted to the distributed calculating environment. Therefore the architecture, technological foundation and application platform of the educational management information system take place great changes than before. But at present, the programs used by the educational administrative departments and schools mostly have many problems, such as nonstandard inflexible design, bad compatibility and extensibility, unsuitable network application. If these problems embarrassed the application of the educational management information system, it will cause the great wasting of financial, material, human resources. The informization of educational management is developing quickly, which relies on informationtechnology deeply. So it is significative to research the design and development of flexible, extendable, distributed educational management .information system.For the educational management information system is a realization form of enterprise application system in educational domain, this paper will illustrate the system architecture, design and development method, technological foundation and application platform of enterprise application system. Chapter One summarizes the distributed multi-tier application system, starting with explaining why we use and what is distributed multi-tier architecture. Chapter Two clarifies the design aim, restraint conditions of distributed multi-tier application system as well as object-oriented analyse and design. Chapter Three introduces the pivotal technology developing the distributed multi-tier application system 鈥?Component Technology. Chapter Four and Chapter Five respectively demonstrate COM/DCOM/COM+ and MIDAS technology used by LabMIS system. Chapter Six simply introduces LabMIS as an example of software design and development.
