On-line condition monitoring and signal analysis is a new developing technology that has been developed to meet the need of modern manufacture in recent decades, and it has been justified in practice as an effective technology for protecting mechanical equipment from breakdown. However, software development for such a system is time-costly due to its task-dependent and repetitive property. It has attracted more and more attentions to develop software of condition monitoring and signal analysis for different mechanical equipment with high efficiency and flexibility.The following topics are involved in this thesis: Firstly, the existing on-line condition monitoring and fault diagnosis software system is analyzed in detail, and the implement strategy on how to use the concept of software reuse in Condition Monitoring software developing is introduced. Secondly, the thesis introduces the employ of the Component Object Module Technology, Client/Server software architecture and Object Oriented Technology in the development of condition mointoring and signal analysis. Thirdly, the general and reusable UI (user interface) component based on DLL technology was designed and developed. In succession, the data analyses, conditon mointoring and data acquisition components based on ActiveX Technology are developed with reusable DLL components.Finally, this dissertation is focused on the development of On-line Condition Monitoring and Signal Analysis software, which is used to monitor and analyze the condition of a Gearbox and an Air Compressor. The vibration mechanism and typical signal analysis methods of the Gearbox are introduced briefly. Besides, the running status of the Gearbox and Air Compressor are analyzed with condition monitoring and signal analysis system and satisfied results have been abtained. The applications of the developed software in factories have shown that the reusable component technology can be used to develop efficient and flexible Condition Monitoring and Signal Analysis systems and can satisfy the requirement of industrial application. In addition, some suggestions on further improvement of this system have been purposed.
