| Nowadays, the information technology is developing rapidly and the survival and competitive environment of the enterprise has changed thoroughly. Enterprises must accelerate the application of the information technology if they want to survive in the market and get victory in the competition. Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP) combines the advanced management ideas and the information technology. It is the only way to apply the information technology to enterprises.This thesis mainly focuses on the design and development of the material management system under the ERP environment based on the .NET platform.,which meets not only the requirements for enterprise management and operation, but also the needs of enterprise's further developments.Firstly, based on the characteristics of the material management of an auto body factory, the purchasing plans of the correlatly demanded material are made by the material requirement plan (MRP) and the management of the independently demanded material uses the stock control strategy.Secondly, the thesis introduces the .NET Framework System Structure Architecture and its sustainment to the enterprise-level software, which includes Windows.Form, ASP.NET, Web Service and ADO.NET. Then, the System Structure Architecture the enterprise-level software is put forward on the .NET platform.Thirdly, based on the design targets and principles of the material management system of the auto body factory, a four-tier structure for the distributed material management system is designed. Dynamic models, static models and database models are designed with UML. And some use case diagrams, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams and component diagrams and database models of the system are presented. The material management system is developed on the .NET platform using the component technology.Finally, some comments of the insufficiencies on the work and some aspects that should be studied in the future are given at the end of the thesis.
