| The great achievements of Chinese mass media have been made since the reform and opening-up policy, especially in recent ten years. As an indispensable important link in a complicated social system, it is the twenty years' market-oriented development that has deeply influenced Chinese media industry. On the one hand, media industry begins to be more marketed-oriented. It tries to seize the market quota of audiences and deals with the heated competition among media through the improvement of service idea of audiences and the improvement of media product quality. On the other hand, the industrial ideas of media on the marketed-oriented background have gradually recovered. The motive for making profits and the impulse to become bigger and stronger have become more evident in this process. Therefore, the restrictions and influence on the media by economic power has made it easy. Then, the professional quality and social responsibility have been increasingly doubted.The media found themselves on the horns of a dilemma between how to keep to their socially public function and how to strengthen themselves in the practical operations. In all the problems that the media are faced with, how to maintain and grasp the relationships to news sources are worthy of reflection and consideration, which is also what this essay wants to explain and gain.The essay has five parts.The first part is the introduction, which summarizes the researches from home and abroad and states the research frame and methods of the essay after the illustration of basic concepts.The second part gives academic interpretations of mass media and news sources respectively, which lays a theoretical foundation for the latter explications.The third part analyses the relations between mass media and news sources at the present turning period, which is based on the realistic level. The first relation is how to treat the checkbook news. The second relation is how to treat the interaction between the media and news sources. Can the service quality of news and the objective truth of news be guaranteed through the close and distant relations to stable news sources? The third relation is how to treat the anonymous news sources. Is it a way of news self-protection and self-discipline or a method offence-sitters' under pressure?The fourth part is the theoretical analysis. The relations between media and news sources are deeply discussed and analyzed from the perspectives of ethics, economics, laws and media studies.The last part is concluding remarks. In this part, some measures have been suggested in order to promote the good interaction between mass media and news sources.
