VXIbus is an excellent platform for automated test system. The modularized instrument system based on VXIbus has many advantages, such as good open architecture, modularized system structure, high speed, high stability, flexibility in integration, plug & play and so on. VXIbus interface is the key technique of VXIbus automated test system. Research on design principle and the realization method of the VXIbus register-based interface are significant and valuable for VXIbus instrument module, specially for the design of instrument modules. Studying data acquisition module has a good meaning in improving the technique of VXIbus and promoting the development in VXIbus automated test system.Based on the analysis of the virtual instrument hardware platform, software platform and VXIbus specification, in this paper the design principle of VXIbus register-based interface and VXIbus double channel data acquisition module is given, the interface and the acquisition module is developed. Furthermore, an IVI instrument driver for this interface and the module is also researched and developed successfully.The VXIbus register-based interface is proved that its principle is correct and its functions are reasonable. The interface's and the module's electrical designs can realize their all functions on the VXIbus, specification. On the other hand, the test software and the IVI instrument driver developed in this paper can accurately and reliably drive the interface and the module, and is up to the VPP and IVI specification.
