In all the parts of a driving train, bearings are the easiest to be damaged. In spiteof their small sizes, they are very important. If the bearings are damaged, an accidentof trains can happen. As special vehicles, trains'accidents always lead to very largeloss of money and lives. In our country, the monitoring devices and ways are far awayfrom advanced countries. It is a very important task of departments of railways todevelop a easy kind of monitoring device for fault bearings.In this paper, some past research results are summarized. According to thecurrent conditions, a new method for monitoring the running status of bearings of atrain is presented. Beyond the old pattern and theory held by some specialists, thismethod focuses on practicality and simplicity. The basic way used in the study is highfrequency resonance and demodulation (R&D). In order to make it easy to deal withthe very complicate vibrant signal, the signal is pretreated before it is analyzed.During the research, the following achievements have been made:1. Some kinds of research ways were compared with each other, and theiradvantages and shortages were found out;2. Present a new method and design plan;3. Design the hardware circuit and software;4. Improve the accelerating sensor and develop a special kind of complicatesensor for monitoring bearing's fault;5. Talk about connection between bearing monitoring system and GSM-R;6. By experiment on the trains, some result were made;7. Present some advice of improvement.
