In order to sove the problem of software crisis, the subject of software engineering was established, and then it came to full development and became strong during exploring and practice of improving the qulity of software production. Developing worker always strive to improve the stability, repeated use and flexibility of software production. In order to attain this goal, people persevere in their study and want to get the good method of developing software Production. Life periold and object-oriented method are two kinds of ways, which are used by people in developing software Production. Contrasting object-oriented method with Life periold method, people are inclined to pay attention to the former because the former is able to improve the stability, repeated use and flexibility of software production greatly. Therefore, this paper focus on how to use the principle of software engineering to instruct the course of developing numerical control software. In this paper, firstly, author introduce the basical principle and developing way of the traditional method of developing software production which is life period method and application in developing numerical control system of drilling and milling machine tool which has been designed and produced by the mechanical school where author study. Secondly, author deliberately introduce and analyse the rules and developing way of object-oriented method which is frequently used in recent years. Finally, author realize partial function of numerical control system of drilling and milling machine tool by the help of developing tool of Visual C++ and make a active and profitable practice and exploring by using object-oriented method.
