During the past one and half centuries, photogrammetry has experienced two stages of analog photogrammetry and analytical photogrammetry and has stepped into the digital photogrammetry age. The development of science technology promotes effectively the quickly develop of digital photogrammetry technique and equipment, and perfects and realizes practicality and industrialization. At the same time, the development of science technology and society also put forward the higher demand to pbotogrammtery. The establish and wider application of all kinds of geographic information system brings great and urgent demand, which promoted the produce of digital aerial camera, to reliable space data obtained and rapidly update. Airborne Three-Line Scanner(TLS) camera, as a kind of "new" digital camera, has been applied to the practice and shows the powerful life force and excellences.Firstly, this paper compares the imaging method and image's character of Three-Line Scanner sensor with conventional frame camera, expatiates the imaging mechanism of TLS sensor through the compare, and puts forward its imaging equation and stereo imaging principle. According to the imaging mechanism, this paper discusses the geometric relationship between the line in the object space and it's images obtained by the TLS sensor and frame camera. Secondly, this paper introduces the principle and method of image simulation with orthoimages and DEM, including the simulation of image exterior orientation elements. Further more, thesis also introduces thedevelopment course of TLS sensor, introduces several kinds TLS cameras, and emphasizes the TLS camera-ADS40, which already launched and developed jointly by LH Systems company and Germany Aerospace Center DLR..According to the imaging mechanism of TLS camera and image simulation principle, author develops the software that can simulate and create the TLS camera images, and experiments with it. Finally, the thesis introduces the software system and experiment results, and draws the conclusion.
