This paper is the summarization of the tunnel monitor and control system (TMCS) , which is the subsystem of the Shangjie expressway monitor system (SETMCS) .Firstly, the paper introduces the SETMCS and the TMCS, including their characters, functions and structures. After investigating the most popular computer network technology of automatic control - Fieldbus, we have in-depth analyzed the application of the profibus technology in the TMCS. Then, the technology of OPC is introduced. Based on all of these theories above, the analysis and design of structure of TSCS are presented. As the object-oriented design method, UML is studied for the TSCS's software design. In the process of the software design, the devices class and the database are designed. Especially, the design of the tunnel software module of TMCS in the control centre is described in detail. Finally, the realization of the TMCS's software is presented, and the TMCS key technology - component technology is studied deeply.The research and design of the subject synthesizes multifold technologies, such as network, control, OOP, database design, component etc. We have succeeded in the TMCS, so it is feasibly and practicably that profibus technology and UML are applied in the design and realization of the TMCS. Having good flexibility and high reliability, the whole system is worth to popularize.
