Now, fieldbus technology is the hotspot in control area; fieldbus control system (FCS) will result in a tremendous revolution. This paper researched fieldbus PROFIBUS that has huge effect in process control area, and applied it in a testing system of fiber glass reinforced plastics product line. First, the paper introduced the concept, property, merit and trend in development of fieldbus, and pointed out that fieldbus control system would replace traditional control system. Then, the paper introduced PROFIBUS. PROFIBUS includes DP, PA, FMS protocols, and DP protocol is broadly applied in process control because of its peculiarity of high speed, simpleness and security. The paper described properties of PROFIBUS on physical layer and data link layer, and mainly introduced the function of PROFIBUS-DP protocol. Then, the paper researched Siemens S7-300/400 series PLC and its communication network, discussed hardware structure and software design of PLC, and summarized the methods of building MPI network and PROFIBUS network. At last, the designer configured a PROFIBUS network using Siemens PLC whose investigated subject is fiber glass reinforced plastics product line. The designer built a testing flat based Siemens PLC network. Many communication methods were tested, program was designed with statement list, and the monitor interface of touched panel and computer was designed.
