Network Computer(NC)is a kind of information accessingterminal device based on network computing environment.NC usesthe thin-Client model that has local OS. It can let the zeromanagement of Client machines come true,so it is fit for the situationsuch as Network Education and Electronic Business.Traditionalrunning environment of system was kept in local file system. On thecontrary ,in the NC environment ,running environment of system getsdatas from both native Clients and Servers ,especially from Servers. NFS affords a good way for network storage. SunMicrosystems has been developing the technology .NFS is aRPC(Remote Procedure Call) service and it is designed for sharing offiles in different systems and network transparent access. Network computer has a great lot of users and the amount ofdata accessing is very large .So we must develop a kind of networkfile system to fit NC.However, for NC is an application environmentdistinguishing different users ,the present NFS has some drawbacks.Inview of those problems, the paper has done following work. Firstly, I have improved on traditional NFS file system andadded the concept of user in it ,which is very practical for NCenvironment. After verified correct, when NC terminals log on acertain NFS Server, the Server can automatically assign differentresources for users. So it overcomes the drawback that traditional NFSservice is based on a machine or IP address. Secondly,I have completed NFS service over Windows OS.NFSis a kind of service defined by UNIX technology or alike UNIXconception. However,as a matter of fact,NC environment expects thereis NFS service over Windows system. So to creat a NFS Server onWindows is very needful. Compared with resources assignment of traditional NFS basd onhost, this paper puts forward a way to realize NFS services based onuser resources assignment over Windows OS.The technology can fit alot of computer application environments.
