A high-power LD side-pumped Nd:YAG/KTP red laser is repoted.High-power all-solid-state red laser are of great interest in the fields of medical application, laser display and also as a pumping source for tunable lasers, such as Cr:LiSAF. High-power red laser is the key for large laser projection systems. And in the medical application, 660nm is an important light source for PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) to cure cancer. But at present, the ourput power of red laser is not large enough to meet the demands. So it's important to study high-power Nd:YAG red laser both at theory and pactice. The content of the thesis is as follows:1)introduced the application and current state of red lasers, and also several kinds of red lasers;2)Analysed transmission spectrum and the thermal effect of Nd:YAG rod in theoretics, and measured the thermal focus length of Nd:YAG in experiment;3)Study of the phase-matching angle of KTP crystal for frequency-doubling at 1319nm both in theory and in experiments. The angle has no uniform answer yet. So we calculated the best phase-matching angle according to the Sellemier equations of KTP and modified the angle in experiment. This study is the base to obtain high-power red laser.4)Research on the LD side-pumped Nd:YAG/KTP red laser. Employing 600W Nd:YAG pumping module, Q-switch and type-â…¡KTP crystal, we studied high-power LD side-pumped Nd:YAG red laser by plat-plat cavity and three-mirror folded cavity, and analysed the unstable reason of the output in Q-switched fundament experiment and in red laser experiment. Using concave-plat cavity, when the pumped current was 18.6A, we achieved 8.1W QCW red laser. And by three-mirror folded cavity, at the pumped current of 18.5A, we obtained 11.5W QCW red laser.
