As an important branch of CSCW, Collaborative Design emphasizes on group-working style based on effective communication and collaboration. It allows multi-group participates in a single project by using computer. A complex task is usually divided into some mini tasks, each of which is in charge of different group.There are many constraints among the groups for the division of work in the collaborative design, which restrict and depend on each other. How to describe and manage those relations is an important precondition, which ensures that the designs develop smoothly. Based on the analysis of the requirement of some enterprises, the paper analyses several typical kinds of engineering design constraints, then provides a constraint model. Then the paper makes further research on the design and realization of constraint management system relied on the whole platform. At the same time it makes the modeling with the popular tool-UML.The system is realized with .NET platform. .NET framework is a new development environment whose enterprise framework and template is a strong mode, which offers guidance in configuration.The paper's framework is as follows:The First chapter is the introduction mainly about the meaning of the subject and the background.The second chapter introduces the constraint model based on knowledge. The author makes analysis and modeling aimed to the popular constraints.The third chapter introduces the distribute collaborative design platform which is the basis of system.The fourth chapter refers to the system modeling and related tool-UML (United Modeling Language)The fifth chapter refers to the core technology and realization.
