This research was carried out at the Key Laboratory for Modern Precision Agriculture System Integration Research of Ministry of Education, the Research Center for Precision Agriculture of China Agricultural University, and funded by the Project 863:Precision Agriculture Research and Demonstration Project-The research and development of Field Information System based on GPS\GIS and Management Aided Decision Supporting System (2001AA245011-1)."Precision Agriculture", which was developed from 1980's, turns to be the modern agricultural system, becomes the focus field of sustainable development, Since "Precision Agriculture" came out as the high-tech agriculture, it feathers on high quality, high yield, low consumption and environmental protection. China is a big country of agriculture, however, the high-tech content in agriculture is relatively low and the research of "Precision Agriculture" is in the beginning stage now. In "Precision Agriculture" technology system, GPS is one of the key technologies. It offers the basic location information. And Modem sensing technology provides field attribute information for "Precision Agriculture". Consequently, how to solve the problem of collecting, processing and communicating in real-time for basic valid information is the most urgent one of "Precision Agriculture". In this paper, the goal is to solve the practical problems in rapid gathering, processing and communicating GPS data and attribute information; the guide line is system integration; the solution is from relatively two parts: data gathering terminal and data center. Data acquisition terminal: highly integrated, exquisite and portable equipment is constituted to accomplish handheld calculating, handheld positioning and handheld communicating, etc. Combines with GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver, sensors and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) terminal, the pocket PC could gather data, process data, store data, exchange data, guide sampling and navigate. In this part, we apply Microsoft eMbedded Visual Tools and Pocket PC Emulation to realize expecting functions. Data Center: One main role of this part is to receive data from data gathering terminal and send corresponding orders to it. The other is to match positioning data with the photos of crops token by digital camera. In this way, the information of crops is more imaginable and direct evidences for prescribing farming could be obtained. Visual C++6.0 is used to accomplish the task in this part. This paper offers a solution for field data-gathering integration system, which owns the independent intellectual property.Especially, this system carries on a helpful exploration on cooperating wireless communication with agriculture.
