| With the rapid development of Internet network, wireless communication, andinteractive multimedia, video compression is becoming an important issue in theresearch area of video communication today. In the last twenty more years, wavelettheory is developed rapidly under the incessant efforts of scholars over the world, andthe research areas of wavelet theory are also expanded thoroughly. Wavelet theoryhas been applied to many fields successfully. In the field of still-image compression,the JPEG2000, which based on wavelet transform has become the most popularstandard of image compression. In the video compression field, new compressionalgorithm based on wavelet appears and exhibit excellent performance and goodfuture. This paper first briefly introduces the theory of wavelet and three imagecoding algorithms based on wavelet transform which are EZW, SPIHT, EBCOT, andthe SPIHT is applied in the video compression algorithm issued in chapter 4. Thenexpound the video compression and motion compensation algorithms based onwavelet and bring a video compression scheme. The last part of this paper is thesoftware programming and comparison with H.263. |
