In the traditional Video Coding area, the Frame-Based Coding Technologies are general tools for eliminating the redundancy, which exists between the pixels of digital image. Nowadays, the traditional Video Coding Technology has achieved excellent coding efficiency and has emerged into the people's life such as Digital Video Broadcast, DVD, VOD and so on. Constantly, for the multimedia technologies developing, the new multimedia processing methods have to be developed in order to fill the requirements of people, such as Interactive Video Program, Video Editing, Searching Video materials. Because the traditional technologies are all developed with the whole frame, the Video Content can not be controlled by people. Therefore, a novel video coding technology has to be researched and developed.In this circumstance, the Object-based Video Coding Technology has been developed which ensures the controllable Video contents. Its main idea is to segment the video into distinct video objects, and then to code each object individually. At this time, a relevant video coding standard, named MPEG-4, has been working-out. In MPEG-4, many coding technologies are derived from the traditional technologies. For example, the texture coding of Video Object uses SA-DCT algorithm, which is improved from DCT. Motion Compensation method is also a Block-based algorithm. It modifies the matching criteria and introduces the padding technology for improving the precision of motion estimation.Because it shows many good performances in the Non-linear Signal Processing, Wavelet Theory, a new Signal Processing Theory, has been developed quickly in the area of Digital Image Coding.In this article, some coding methods, used in texture, shape and motion coding of video object, have been researched and summarized in order that they can work well in the video object coding. And a novel video coding scheme has been proposed, which combines some wavelet technologies used in the current Video Coding, such as SA-DWT algorithm, EZW algorithm, SPIHT algorithm, Multi-Resolution Motion Estimation, and improves them. In additional, a novel shape coding method, named PSC, ha s been proposed. And it has got a satisfied result in the experiment.
